Technology Maturation
UT-Battelle Maturation Projects
UT-Battelle has provided maturation funding to support technologies with compelling promise as candidates for commercialization. Maturation proposals are accepted for review monthly, and the UT-Battelle Technology Transfer Division will work with inventors to draft proposals according to the appropriate format. Each proposal will define the commercial partner(s), the contribution by this third party to the overall maturation project, and the technical and commercial deliverables of the project. A commercialization manager in the Technology Transfer Division with work with an inventor and the commercial partner to map out the project and then the inventor will provide the tasks and funding necessary for the defined outcomes. Once a project is funded by UT-Battelle, periodic updates are required to track the progress of the technical work and commercial interest of the partner. The expected outcome of a maturation project is the maturing of a technology as a promising candidate for the commercial partner and a license conveying rights of the invention(s) to the commercial partner.
